A simple score for a very ordinary question.
The Washing Line Index turns forecast weather into a clear 0–5 shirt rating for outdoor drying conditions.
What goes into it?
Temperature, humidity, wind, rain probability, rainfall and cloud cover are assessed separately for the morning and afternoon.
How the day is scored
The stronger part of the day receives 70% of the weighting and the weaker part 30%, so a poor half-day does not automatically write off the whole day.
